An Introduction to MPI Programming
09:00 - 09:45
Speaker: Pedro Velho
Through this lecture we present the trends of HPC with an special focus to cluster computing. After we introduce several message passing skeleton strategies such as Master/Worker, Pipeline and Divide & Conquer. At the end we present the Message Passing Interface (MPI).
MPI Practical Programming Session
09:50 - 13:15
Speaker: Pedro Velho
The goal of this activite is to guide students through examples showing the main advantages and primities of MPI. All the exercises can be downloaded here.
An Introduction to High-Throughput Computing
14:30 - 15:15
Speaker: Filip Křikava
In this lecture we will start with an overview of the main concepts and challenges in Distributed Computing and show the approach of High-Throughput Computing. In the second part we will introduce the Condor project and its mechanisms and policies that support High Throughput Computing on large collections of distributively owned computing resources.
Condor in Action
15:20 - 18:20
Speaker: Filip Křikava
During this hands-on session students will gain practical skills in using Condor for helping them to solve their computational needs. We will cover the essential Condor features such as job queueing, scheduling, resource monitoring, and resource management as well as using workflows. Link to the condor tutorial.
Party
21:00 - 00:00
Speaker:
An unique opportunity to taste the famous Brazillian coctail exclusively prepared by Pedro. Also an opportunity to taste the freshness of Guarapita brought by the local organization committee Alvaro.
Salsa Lesson
